Treating Depression: How To Get Help If You Are Suffering From Depression

Depression has always been a big taboo in most societies. There are a lot of people who feel they are suffering from depression but don't know what to do and where to get some help. Maybe it's time to get beyond stereotypes and taboos that prevent people from treating depression and its symptoms effectively. Let's open our minds. This article will help you if you think you are suffering from depression, anxiety or stress.

- First, you need to talk to someone close to you. Your husband/wife or your parents or your closest friend. Someone who cares will listen to what you have to say and you will get that feeling of relief after discussing your issue. Talking works wonders.

- A lot of people confuse sadness with depression. Sadness is a bit different. It is a natural reaction to the loss of something important. It is natural for us humans to experience periods of sadness or grief or other depressive symptoms like eating or sleeping disorders. But these symptoms will not last long for most people. We all have bad days but we can always have a great day tomorrow. These temporary feelings are not depression.

- Only if you have these depressive symptoms nearly every day for a period of 15 days you should ask for help. You have to identify your form of depression and your symptoms. You might need to see an expert and get a professional opinion. A well trained professional will determine if you suffer from clinical depression or if you are going through a blue period of sadness. If the psychotherapist diagnose depression he/she will initiate some kind of therapy (usually antidepressant therapy or psychotherapy). It's always a good idea to see a second expert and get a second opinion before going for any therapy involving chemicals.

- Also, Try talking to other people who suffer from depression. Check if there are any hotlines in your area that will get you connected with experts or patients or someone who can consult you on what to do. A good idea would be to take a walk/ride to the local hospital or health center and get their opinion as well.

- Will you accept the fact that you suffer from depression? It's not easy to do it in our modern societies. A lot of people are ashamed of having depression. Others are shocked. Well, it is important to know that you are not alone. Depression is common and it is also treatable. You just have to identify the form of depression you are suffering from and then decide which depression treatment/method will work for you.

Will you treat depression with antidepressants or try a natural cancer treatment? The choice is yours but if you are curious about how you can treat depression using a proven 100% natural method to eliminate all symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress in 90 days then go for it. Remember, no antidepressants, no psychotherapy.

How Depression Affects Our Lives: Comparing Men And Women Depression

Researchers claim that women are four times more vulnerable to depression than men. I am not implying in any way that women are weaker than men. It's that their biology is so much different from men's. They can be so sensitive and more susceptible to depression, anxiety attacks and stress. Let's point out some of the differences between men and women and how both respond to depression and the symptoms of depression.

Differences Between Men and Women:

* Different levels of hormones like serotonin, estrogen etc. Women's hormone levels are fluctuating, thus women are by nature more stressful and physically sensitive than men, that's why they are more likely to suffer from depressive symptoms. Hormones are really important for women. For example estrogen is responsible for more than 250 functions in a woman's body.

* Women are more vulnerable against special types of depressive states. These are types of depression unique to women. Women become more vulnerable to these depression threats during pregnancy periods or during menopause. Men on the other hand suffer from standard depression forms.

* Women may develop different depression symptoms like anxiety/panic attacks or eating disorders while men develop symptoms like alcohol or drug abuse. So say the analysts.

* There are women who have suffered from severe sexual traumas like a rape or other abuse. These traumas may cause depression at any point during a woman's life. It's these special situations that cause unique female types of depression to appear.

* A woman's menstrual cycle is a really important factor that makes women more vulnerable to stress and depression. During menstrual cycles virtually anything could impact a woman's mood and trigger depressive episodes.

Conclusion: Women should be respected for the struggle they have to suffer in order to survive against depression. There are special female types of depression and women are often being blamed on "..being moody.." etc. and go untreated. It's time to open our minds and go beyond that.

How about treating depression, anxiety and stress the natural way? No antidepressants or psychotherapies, no therapists, no medication. 100% Natural, Guaranteed Depression Treatment. Check out this ebook and conquer Depression in 3 months.

Exercise Heals Depression and Stress

Why treat depression with antidepressants and other kind of medication when you can have better results by only exercising and performing regural physical activities? It's a fact that exercising solves various health related problems and also empowers your brain and your mental abilities. Thus helping you beat depressive emotions and stress.

I was passing by the APA's (American Psychology Association) website the other day and I came across various clinical studies mentioning that depression can be treated very effectively with regular exercise. In fact, these guys at APA recommend to all psychologists to put exercise in their top list and to recommend it to all their clients.

An interesting clinical study pointed out that not only exercise can beat severe depression, but it also helps stop depression from reappearing. The risk of depression and anxiety symptoms increases dramatically when people stop exercising. APA's Psychologists say that it doesn't really matter how much time you spend for exercise. What's really importand is that you exercise very regularly (e.g. once or twice a day).

Of course, people suffering from severe depression and anxiety should not just stop taking medicines or quit therapy and start exercising to cure their depression. But the benefits of exercising are enormous. According to the studies, if a person performs physical activities every day then the chances for the depressive symptoms to disappear are great.

But how can exercise beat depression?. You know that a lot of people pay a visit to the gym after a stressful day at work. Remember that rewarding and calming emotion after a good workout? I've felt it. I bet you've felt it too. Why is that happening? According to the researchers it's because exercise makes people happier and boosts their self-esteem. Now, if you're suffering from depression you definitely display lack of self-confidence and low levels of self-esteem. And that's where exercise really helps. By making you feel better for yourself and by giving you that feeling of acomplishment.

It's really simple if you think about it.

You don't need chemical antidepressants because regular exercise is your original, natural and effective antidepressant. The one that will relieve you from stress, anxiety and all depressive symptoms. Even if you suffer from severe depressive states you still have chances to beat depression only by exercising. But there's a catch.

People tend to go too far with exercise and over perform. They become obsessive and exhausted. That's not a good thing when dealing with depression because you must always be strong enough to fight with yourself and your depressive symptoms. Exercise really drains your energy reserves and leaves you weak to face depression.

In order to survive this you have to be balanced. You have to take small steps one at a time. That's why it's importand to consult an expert before taking exercise to a point of self-abuse. Exercise does improve your mental health and can heal your depression but you have to do it right. And take it easy.

Let's go through some of the key benefits of exercise in the struggle against depression:
- Boosts your self esteem
- Eliminates sad feelings
- Promotes feelings of acomplishment
- Increases productivity

Consider the fact that 20 percent of the world's population suffers from various depressive states. Consider the fact that 50 percent of the world's population do not exercise at all. Most people suffering from depression are missing the number one natural and most effective antidepresant. Which is exercise.

Not to mention that exercise is also the cheapest antidepressant of all!

Depression: Why Do You Feel Blue?

Do you feel sad sometimes? It's a fact that Everyone feels sad from time to time. There are times for everybody when hopelessness takes place. Is this a sign of depression? Should you worry about it? Is there any way to fight this blue feeling and overcome sadness? Should you pay a visit to the doctor?

These are some of the questions you should be asking yourself if you notice any feelings of worthlessness or sadness in your every day life. But is this feeling of hopelessness a sign of depression or an early stage of a depressive state? The answer is no.

Depression lasts. Depression messes up your entire life. It's not just a feeling. It's a chronic state. A disease. It can affect your thoughts, and your physique. It can cause severe sleeping problems. It can stop your appetite with various digestion problems. Depression will destroy your decision making capabilities. There are cases where depression can cause thoughts of suicide attempts.

There are thousands of people around the world suffering from severe depression and these people leave among you and me. Maybe someone next door suffers from this chronic disease.

In my humble opinion depression starts from an early age. In fact I think that everybody at some point in their lives, experience depressive feelings. There must be certain incidents or factors in a person's life that can cause stress or anxiety. Maybe it's the fear of rejection a lot of individuals suffer from or maybe its the pressure we feel in our every day lives.

Researchers keep coming up with different theories, conclusions and treatments. Most treatments involve strong medication (e.g. antidepresants), psychotherapy etc. Is this the solution to this severe problem? Can be depression treated with medication?

I think the most importand factor is that many people do not even recognize they suffer from depression. And even worse the people surrounding them, their family, their friends or relatives cannot accept the fact that depression is a common disease and can happen to everybody. Even to their best friend, lover or relative.

Is depression a taboo? I think it is. I think many people will never admit someone close to them (e.g. their children) suffers from depression. They will try to hide the truth from others and themselves. Why? Because depression is related with various bad behaviors, suicidal tendencies, drug abuse etc.
